ΙΚΕΣΙΑ (supplication): From Refugee to Refuge.
September 13 & 14 • Idaean Cave, Anogeia
The concept of "Ikesia" and the ritual of "Ikesia" constituted unwritten laws with divine origins, under the protection of the king of the gods, Zeus, the divine refugee who, as a baby, was saved after his mother Rhea's refuge in the sacred caves of Crete, the Idaean Cave!
In this emblematic space, in the heart of Psiloritis, through an artistic and scientific collaboration, the timeless concept of Ikesia as refuge and refuge is approached within the framework of the completion of 100 years since the Asia Minor Catastrophe.
At an altitude of 1550 meters, a symbolic thematic cycle will be attempted from the shores of Smyrna to the Foothills of Mount Dikte, which will include two thematic presentations, a theatrical excerpt from Aeschylus' tragedy "Iketides," and the musical-theatrical improvisation "Refuge" (part of the artistic Augmented Reality Project Metartum). Finally, the event concludes with the musical performance of the band of the Cretan artist Vasilis Skoulas.
