Part B: "The Pleasure of Tears - The Reflection of Mourning in Time and Memory"
Musical presentation: Vocal Ensemble "Thyrathen"
The theatrical performance as a performative rendition of the lament through time and its reflection over millennia, from the Homeric lament of Andromache, Hecuba, Helen to the woman of Anogeia mourning her son as a victim of the Heraklion shipwreck on 8/11/1968.
In the two theatrical performances, the actress and performer Marianna Polychronidi and the theater scholar-actress Emanuela Marioula star as the mourning figures of the distant and recent past.
The translation of part of Rhapsody O of the Iliad is by I. Kakridis and N. Kazantzakis, while the second monologue is written and performed by Louvicos of Anogeia based on the confessional recording of Marika Karabini and her lament for her son Lakis.
Part C: "The Feast of Mourning"
The main part of the event is the musical performance, inspired, conceived, and executed by Louvicos of Anogeia as a pioneer in setting Cretan laments through years of recording and collecting authentic laments.
The goal of the event is to highlight the lament and the depiction of mourning in a variety of expressions, emphasizing its performative, psychological, and cultural dimensions.
